Bobby’s List of Songs Not to Karaoke
There’s several lists out there of songs that you should karaoke. However, there aren’t many lists about the songs you shouldn’t karaoke.
Bobby Bones put together his list of songs he believes make the worst songs to sing at a karaoke night. Some of them may be surprising, but Bones has his reasons for all of his choices. His top 5 list includes songs from Queen, Adele, Journey, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston/Dolly Parton. As well as some honorable mentions with "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin, "American Pie" by Don McLean, and "Wonderwall" by Oasis.
But don’t worry, Bones also shared the one song he believes you can never go wrong with at karaoke and that is "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond. Though he added to make sure to only sing this once its later in the evening so the crowd is ready to singalong.
5. Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody"
Bones said the song is way too long for a karaoke song.
4. Any Adele song
Bones said it takes a lot of vocal talent to master one of these songs as well as seriousness, so unless someone can really sing. We should just avoid all of them.
3. Journey "Don’t Stop Believin’"
Bones said while this song sounds fun if you’ve been drinking, but there’s so much more to the song than just the chorus.
2. Celine Dion "My Heart Will Go On"
Bones shared that the song is slow and long, and slow songs are pretty tough to do for karaoke crowds. The only exception is if you send in an audition tape, and the person in charge of karaoke approves you to do it.
1. Whitney Houston/Dolly Parton "I Will Always Love You"
There wasn’t much of a discussion on this one, Bones just said don’t do it.
