Yesterday, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the state has introduced an incentive plan to help increase vaccinationa across the state.

Prizes include $1.5 million, $50,000 cash prices and $50 gift cards.

The drawing for the $1.5 million will take place on June 15, the same day the state is hoping to reopen.

California isn’t the first state to offer cash incentives for getting vaccinations. Ohio, Colorado and Oregon have all offered their citizens $1 million prizes.

State officials have estimated that around 12 million Californians, 12 and older, have not been vaccinated.
