Angus King, an independent senator from Maine, made an interesting proposition to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

He’s calling on the heads of streaming service giants such as Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Apple and WarnerMedia to not charge non-subscribers to use their streaming service as a way to encourage people to stay home.

King noted that while socially distanced entertainment options have remained limited due to the pandemic, Americans have turned to streaming platforms as “safe at home tools,” as an alternative to public gatherings.

“At this time, we must find ways to incentivize people to follow guidance from the CDC, their employer, local public health officials, or school leaders,” King wrote in his letter.”We encourage you to do everything you can to support and assist American families.”
