The Santa Cruz Police Department played a role this week in recovering several stolen vintage guitars, part of a nearly year-old $2 million Southern California heist!

After receiving a tip from the Los Angeles Police Department, Santa Cruz detectives found the guitars after serving search warrants at three different locations in the city.

Combined, the nine guitars are valued at over $225,000.

Police in Southern California made several arrests in connection with the case last year. Authorities later discovered that the guitars were being sold online via an address in Santa Cruz.

The Santa Cruz police have made no arrests in the local case, “as it remains unclear how the stolen property came into the possession of subjects associated to the searches,” according to Santa Cruz police Lt. Arnold Vasquez.
